Syrup Season 2026 Underway
Hello syrup fans!
This year the season snuck up on us a tad. Not that we weren’t already thinking about it at the beginning of February, but with this year being a touch colder and more snowy than years previous we were holding out hope for an end of March start.

It’s an odd sort of experience making syrup each year. By that I mean, once we’re tapped in and back in the shack, it sort of feels like we never left. Perhaps it has to do with the fact that once we’re up and running the work is very repetitive. Bring wood in the shack, feed fires every 10 minutes or so, monitor sap intake, and repeat until sap is syrup at 66.7% brix, then bottle, and start all again. The changing weather will determine the starts and stops of sap running, but ultimately there’s this feeling in the shack of timelessness. Maybe we’re just getting older and the work is wearing on us a little more – perception of time is very subjective – especially on days when we have to set our clocks an hour ahead. It is NOT almost noon dang it!
Anyway, all this to say, we’ve tapped in and have boiled ~200 gallons of sap this past weekend. It’s looking like the weather will descend back into wintery territory by the end of this week and we’ll get a short break before the season really opens up.
Stay tuned for more syrupy updates!
ENJOY!
-Jan
